our ethics
Here at Grassroots Ideas, we like to practice what we preach.
We have a comprehensive green manifesto in place that we are always looking at ways to improve.
Our efforts are focused in the areas below :-
Workplace - We’re a very small company at the moment, but that doesn’t mean we don’t care about our staff. We encourage professional growth and pride ourselves on maintaining our edge through continued education. We’re flexible with our working practices, and ensure that everyones voice is heard. We also offer opportunities for staff to undertake voluntary work during the working week, and are always looking for other initiatives we can get involved with.
Environmental - We don’t have dedicated office space at the moment so we like to think our environmental impact is really quite small! We’re quite good at recycling, and everything that can be recycled is, from cardboard, paper and plastics to old computers and furniture. We turn off all our electrical equipment at night, make sure the vast majority of our correspondence is done by email or phone, and use recycled materials for printed items. When we go to meetings, we try and go by train or walk, but as we are in a semi-rural location this isn’t always possible!
Marketplace - We want to be a nice company to deal with, and we think we are. We are working on finalising an honest and transparent purchasing policy, and we encourage an open dialogue with our suppliers and customers alike. We always, always pay our bills on time, and we appreciate it when our clients do the same! We’re aiming for a 100% target of using ethically sound suppliers and products. We know this is something to aspire to and it may be a while before we get there, but we will.
Community - Because we are a very new company, we haven’t yet had the opportunity to fully engage with our community. But we have ambitious plans. We’d like to get involved with local charities and groups and are committed to offering our services at a heavily reduced cost. We try and source products such as milk, bread and fruit from local shops, and we go armed with our ‘Bags for Life’ so we don’t end up using too many carrier bags. We’re also firm believers in doing our bit, so staff members have previously taken part in the ‘Race for Life’ run at Tatton Park in memory of a local young mum, and even spent honeymoons in Sri Lanka building houses for those who lost them in the tsunami. Obviously not in our local community, but a community that was devastated by a truly horrific disaster none-the-less.
Company Values - Our business is built on 4 key values that we live and breathe everyday. They are Honesty, Responsibility, Freshness and Passion.
- Honesty - Cutting through the jargon. We’ll tell it how it is. And we appreciate you doing the same.
- Responsibility - Advocators of ‘the right way’. And taking responsibility for ensuring our clients advocate ‘the right way’ too.
- Freshness - Always looking for new ways to solve old problems. Some people call it ‘thinking outside the box’. We call it freshness.
- Passion - Loving what we do. And sharing that passion with our customers. And their customers.
